Information Officer

POPIA (the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013) requires every responsible party to designate an Information Officer who is accountable to the Information Regulator of South Africa for how personal information is handled. This page publishes those details.

2. What the Information Officer is responsible for

• Encouraging and monitoring the collective's compliance with the conditions for lawful processing set out in POPIA.
• Dealing with requests from members exercising their rights — access to their information, correction, deletion, and objection to processing.
• Notifying the Information Regulator and affected members of a security compromise, as required by section 22.
• Handling requests for access to records under PAIA, as set out in our PAIA Manual.
• Ensuring that operators processing personal information on our behalf are bound by written agreements.

3. How to make a request

Email hello@sekndnature.com with a clear description of what you are asking for and enough information to identify you as the member concerned. We acknowledge requests promptly and respond within the periods POPIA and PAIA prescribe.

Members can handle the most common requests themselves without writing to anyone: a full export of your data, a deletion request, and your marketing preferences all live under Account → Privacy & data.

4. Escalation to the Information Regulator

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa:
